Within the 18th National Bilingualism week celebration, an essay writing competition in English and French was organized for staff of MINAT this February 1, 2023. This was to test language competency in the second language as staff of English expression did the essay in French while staff of French expression did the essay in English language.
There was also an exhibition of traditional staple foods from across different cultures. Foods exhibited were; ekwang, fufu and njama njama, kwacoco, okok sucre, kilichi, achu, plantain chips, raffia paraphernalia fruits and baobab juice. The exposition of these foods was done on the notion of bilingualism and multiculturalism. This too is in line with the theme of this year’s national bilingualism week which is « bilingualism a window to cultures and technologies, a human capital development tool for an emerging Cameroon »
The food exhibition added colour to the bilingualism feast as different persons took turns savouring the dishes that were presented.
The winners of the competition would be proclaimed on Friday February 3rd when week long celebrations would wrap up.
